Magic Millions cracker by Danzero

Arrowfield trailblazer Danzero is overdue to deliver in the Magic Millions Guineas and his promising galloper Confident Star will have a crack in January.

Confident Star (3g Danzero – Star Hit by Euclase) looked a feature winner of the future after creating a new class record in the BRC Maiden Plate (1200m) at Doomben on Wednesday.

He clocked 1.09.67s which broke the old mark held by Save Yourself by nearly a second.  “He’s always shown promise but kept going shin-sore,” trainer Gillian Heinrich said.  “It’s taken him time to get going but we could be on the way to the Magic Millions.”

Danzero transferred from Arrowfield to Rosemont Stud this year.  The 20 year-old has a marvellous record at the Magic Millions with the likes of Dance Hero, Zero Rock and Hidden Winder but has come up short in the Guineas.

His second crop colt Zero Rules was beaten a nose by Paradiddle in 2001.  And his locally trained gelding Startsmeup was runner-up to Torio’s Quest in the latest edition of the Magic Millions Guineas.

Confident Star cost Heinrich’s husband Hoss $150,000 from the Trevannah draft at the Gold Coast Magic Millions last year.  “He needs more prizemoney to qualify for the Guineas,” Heinrich explained.  “But he’s a big boy and I’m very happy with him now.”

The Doomben victory increased Danzero’s record to 551 individual winners of 1730 races at a 64% strike-rate
