Magic Millions has rescheduled the Central Queensland Yearling Sale until May 6. It was originally set down for the Rockhampton Showgrounds on April 8.
News of the deferment comes in the wake of the floods that also saw the QTIS 600 Yearling Sale move from March to April 17 & 18.
It’s business as usual for Magic Millions after a week that saw Gerry Harvey assume outright ownership of Australia’s most innovative auction house.
On Wednesday, Magic Millions bloodstock manager Paul Knight announced reduced commissions for the 2011 National Weanling and Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast in May – June.
Lots that sell for prices under $150,000 will be the subject of a 6.6% commission rate and that rate drops to 3.3% for sales of $150,000 or more.
There’s no commission on lots passed in at the Sale.
Knight said the reduced commission rates would be welcomed by the industry. “We know it’s a tough time for breeders,” Knight said. “Magic Millions pioneered low commissions and we’re sure the new rates will create strong interest from vendors.”
