Mahisara all the way for More Than Ready

Jockey Craig Williams believes G3 Sandown Stakes winner Mahisara can go all the way next year.

Mahisara (4h More Than Ready – Darsini by Danehill) gave his Sandown rivals a towelling on Saturday.  He put a gap in the them at the top of the straight and was still three lengths clear at the finish.  “Well done to Paul (Messara).  He’s really turned this horse around,” Williams declared.  “I think there’s a good race in him for the autumn.”

The More Than Ready sprinter broke through at black-type level in the LR Centenary Classic at Eagle Farm in June 2011.  He went winless as a three year-old but resumed this season for wins at Rosehill and Flemington prior to the trip to Sandown.

“Mahisara is a big bull and can be a handful,” Messara said.  “He is a lovely looking animal and has a great turn of foot.  But you’ve got to let him do things his own way.”

Vinery champion More Than Ready sired him from Darsini, a three-quarter sister to G2 MVRC Stocks Stakes winner Astrodame (Flying Spur).  Darsini foaled another More Than Ready colt in September.

Mahisara is another example of the More Than Ready – Danehill cross that’s produced Group 1 winners the calibre of Sebring, More Joyous, Perfectly Ready, Benicio and Elite Falls.

Perth galloper Galaxy Prince completed a city double for More Than Ready in the Wild Turkey Rare Breed Hcp (1800m) later in the day.  He led home an Ascot quinella for Vinery sires with a fast-finishing victory over Fanicio (Benicio).

Galaxy Prince (4g More Than Ready – Lady Ashford by Royal Academy) is owned by leading Perth breeder Bob Peters and is a younger half-brother to LR Pinjarra Cup winner Star Encounter (Jeune).  Their dam presented Peters with another More Than Ready filly in September.

Peters has an affinity with More Than Ready’s stock racing 2011 G1 WATC Derby winner Dreamaway as well as stakes performers Dark Miss and Rafferty.
