A Super VOBIS jewel from Tony Santic goes under the hammer as Lot 109 at the Melbourne Premier Sale on Sunday.
Santic’s filly, who is being sold as agent by Milburn Creek, blends the bloodlines of the two greatest mares to ever race out of Victoria and Australia.
She’s a first-crop daughter of Black Caviar’s half-brother All Too Hard. The Vinery based sire was a genuine Group 1 galloper in his own right and Team Hawkes ranked him in the same league as Lonhro.
All Too Hard topped the Gold Coast Magic Millions freshman medians at $220,000 and his Premier filly is from Melbourne Cup legend Makybe Diva. The residual value alone makes her one of the highlights of the Blue Riband Session.
The Makybe brand received another winning update with Mr Stunning in Hong Kong on Wednesday evening. The John Size trained Oaklands graduate made it two wins in as many starts under Karis Teeton when he powered clear with 60.5kg to beat older horses in a breeze.
Mr Stunning (3g Exceed And Excel – With Fervour by Dayjur) had been trialling brilliantly before his debut. “He’s got pace but there was a lot of speed in the race which can be daunting for a young horse,” Size said. “I asked Karis to sit back and he finished strongly to get the job done.”
Makybe sold him to Lyndhurst Farm as a foal for $110,000 at the Inglis Great Southern Sale and he was pin-hooked for $250,000 to the bid of Magus Equine at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale. He’s the fifth winner from a USA bred daughter of G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Fran’s Valentine.
