Danaura will be on trial for black-type company in the $50,000 Mandurah Cup (1409m) at Pinjarra this Sunday.

The Gold Front Thoroughbreds galloper is coming off a front-running victory in the Grandstand Cup at Pinjarra (1400m) on December 14.  “We’re spacing his runs and keeping him fresh,” trainer Brent Albuino said.  “He’s been very professional since arriving here from Sydney.”

Danaura (5g Danzero – Gaelic Aura by Clear Choice) has only been out of a place once in 8 starts for Albuino.  Initially prepared by Chris Waller, he won a Kembla Grange 2YO Maiden and was also placed twice at Randwick earlier this year before transferring to WA.

The LR Pinjarra Classic (1300m) is also on the radar this campaign.  It’s worth $120,000 and is scheduled for February 22.

Danaura cost $75,000 at the 2011 Inglis Classic yearling sale and he hails from a family going back to Group 1 winning stayers Celtic Spirit (SAJC Derby) and Lord Revenir (AJC Metropolitan).

The Mandurah Cup begins a busy week for Gold Front owners Alan and Sue Olive.  The Gingin couple have three colts catalogued for the Gold Coast Magic Millions starting with a Redoute’s Choice – Awesome Planet colt (Lot 91) next Wednesday, January 7.

He’s part of the Newgate Farm consignment and is a three-quarter brother to Awesome Rock who was placed in this year’s G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

The Olives also sold a Fastnet Rock – Awesome Planet filly for $400,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions.  She topped Day 2 of the Gold Coast Sale and is in the early stages of her first preparation with Mike Moroney at Flemington.
