Mick Price has a big opinion of his unraced three-year old Marconi and the wraps finally come off today when the gelding lines up in the Gippsland Physiotherapy Maiden at Stony Creek (Race 3 at 2.10pm AEDT).
Marconi (3g Lago Delight-Capriceuse by Grosvernor) was bred by Price and was very impressive at two recent Cranbourne trials. In the first hit-out, he cantered in by 10 lengths, while his most recent was by a margin of three lengths.
Marconi is the first named foal for the unraced New Zealand mare Capriceuse and hails from the same family as G3 Taurunga Stakes winner High Octane (Towkay). With the services of Craig Newitt and a good draw, Marconi looks set to begin his racing career on a winning note in Gippsland.
