Master Of Design – Bred to Win – Friday, 18 December 2009

Multi-million dollar yearling Master Of Design can cope with a rise in class in the Sunline Suite Tour Hcp at Moonee Valley tonight (Race 6 at 9.15pm AEDT).

The Lee Freedman trained sprinter was a beaten favourite when ridden for speed at Yarra Glen in October but a change of tactics worked out nicely at Ballarat a fortnight ago.  He settled well back but stormed home for a strong win over 1200m.

Master Of Design (4h Redoute’s Choice – Urge To Merge by Last Tycoon) steps up a couple of grades but he is bred to win much better races than tonight’s restricted event.  He is raced by Sheikh Mohammed and cost $2.1 million from the Arrowfield draft at the 2007 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Master Of Design’s sire is an Australian champion and his dam Urge To Merge is a winning sister Champion South African filly Tracy’s Element and leading NZ sire Towkay.  She is also a half-sister to the Danehill stakes winners Cullen and Danasinga.

Tracy’s Element is the dam of brilliant mare Typhoon Tracy (Red Ransom), a G1 winner of the VRC Myer Classic and STC Coolmore Classic.

Urge To Merge has had five to race for as many winners starting with Suntagonal (Octagonal), a G1 winner of the Greyville Champion Stakes in South Africa.  She is also the dam of Allied Force (Redoute’s Choice) who won at Bendigo and Moonee Valley (2) this time last year.
