The stud career of the former top-flight sprinter Any Suggestion gained further momentum at Trentham on Saturday.
Any Suggestion’s grey colt Taoist Master made a winning debut in the Carpet One 2YO Hcp (1000m) and he also earned lavish praise from champion jockey James McDonald.
“Just wait until he gets over 1200 metres and he might even be a Sires’ Produce horse,” McDonald said. “The Any Suggestions are very nice horses and he’s got a good one here. To run straight like he did was a very good effort.”
The Rich Hill Stud stallion has only had six runners and, appropriately, the farm’s familiar stylised colours were carried by his first winner Killa Question. The colt had saluted at the Counties meeting last month and also has a placing to his credit from a handful of starts.
Taoist Master will now head toward the Karaka Million at Ellerslie on the eve of the 2012 NZB National Yearling Sales. He was a $62,500 yearling purchase for Matamata trainer John Sargent at Karaka earlier this year.
Taoist Master is out of the Grosvenor mare Skara Brae who is a half-sister to the stakes performers Master Lennox and Spirit Of Oregon.
The Trentham result was an excellent one for Rich Hill. Runner-up Mt Eden is trained by Stephen McKee and is out of a daughter of resident stallion Pentire.
Any Suggestion (Lion Hunter) represents a branch of the Danehill stallion that also has Ferocity flying in Australia.
A powerful grey, he was a stakes winner of 9 races up to 1200 metres and was also runner-up to Miss Andretti in the G1 MVRC Australia Stakes. He’s out of a sister to the dam of Group 1 racehorse and sire Show A Heart,
Any Suggestion will be represented at Karaka in 2012 by 16 Select Sale yearlings and a further 17 in the Festival Sale.
