Perth filly Bliss Street is on track for a crack at the G1 One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield after a fighting first-up victory on Saturday.

Bliss Street (3f Flying Spur – Jade Diva by Jade Robbery) races for Eddie Rigg’s Geisel Park Stud in partnership with her breeders Yarraman Park.  

“She was vulnerable first up with 58kg,” trainer Dan Morton revealed after the Westspeed 3YO Handicap (1200m) at Belmont.  “But she matured with the break and at this stage she will most likely have her next start in Melbourne.”

Bliss Street was a G3 winner of the WA Sires’ Produce Stakes in April and would have travelled interstate earlier but for lack of suitable flights from WA to the Eastern States.

Morton bought Bliss Street for $100,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions and Yarraman’s Arthur and Harry Mitchell kept a share.

Her dam Jade Diva was a Listed winner of the MVRC Silver Jubilee Stakes and the mare has a new-season 2yo filly by Fastnet Rock.  Yarraman sold her for $500,000 to Bob Ingham at the 2011 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Arrowfield stalwart Flying Spur is off to a flyer with his current crop of three year-old fillies.  His G2 Silver Slipper winner Satin Shoes returned from a spell to win the LR Quezette Stakes at Caulfield on August 13.

The Clarrie Connors trained filly will continue her spring campaign in the G3 McNeil Stakes back at Caulfield this Saturday.

Another Flying Spur with a bright future is Gold Coast based God Bless Us.  The Alan Bailey trained filly made a successful hit-and-run raid to Sydney with a last-stride Canterbury victory earlier this month.

Flying Spur (Danehill) will stand for a $49,500 (inc gst) fee at Arrowfield this year.
