Midday justified an odds-on quote to claim her third Nassau Stakes victory in a row at Goodwood on Saturday night.  The Juddmonte homebred was given a leg-up when chief rival Misty For Me was withdrawn due to the firm going.

Midday (5m Oasis Dream – Midsummer by Kingmambo) is trained by Sir Henry Cecil and she became the most successful horse to represent Warren Place at Group 1 level having now totalled six wins at the elite level.

“She’s a marvellous mare and has been a bit unlucky not to have won two or three more Group 1 races,” Cecil said.  “All going well, she’ll go for the Yorkshire Oaks on August 18.”

Midday was never in danger en route to a two-length score over Snow Fairy (Intikhab) and Principal Role (Empire Maker).

“She’s the queen of Goodwood,” jockey Tom Queally said.  “She travelled really well and I was able to get her on the bridle and give her a breather.  I was conscious that Frankie (Dettori) was stalking on Snow Fairy so I gave her a smack to make her mind up.  She’s very special and an absolute sweetheart.”

Midday is the first winner for Juddmonte mare Midsummer who won at Kempton was stakes placed in the Lingfield Oaks Trial.

Second dam Modena (Roberto) foaled the G1 winners Elmaamul (Diesis) and Reams Of Verse (Nureyev), G2 winner Manifest (Rainbow Quest), G3 winners Modern Day (Dayjur) and Modernise (Known Fact) and the LR winners High Walden (El Gran Senor), Modesta (Sadler’s Wells) and Novellara (Sadler’s Wells).
