Perth owner-breeder Bob Peters has well-bred mare Midnight Special ready to rise through the ranks starting at Ascot this afternoon.
Midnight Special (4m Zabeel – Done That by Centaine) won over a mile first-up at Northam a fortnight ago and she can make it a running double at Ascot in Race 4 (2.15pm Perth time – 5.15pm AEDT).
Midnight Special is by champion sire Zabeel and is a sister to Randwick winner Rainbow Styling and a half-sister to Jon Ron (Generous) and Zingaling (Redoute’s Choice) who have also won at Randwick.
Their dam Done That is a winning half-sister to G2 South African stayer Double Reef (Last Tycoon), G2 STC Reisling Slipper winner Star Of Nouvelle (Star Watch) and the Wally Mitchell trained Giladane (Danehill) who was the leading filly of her year in Perth.
Midnight Special is trained by Adam Durrant who won the Pinjarra – Bunbury Cups double for Peters with Lords Ransom (Jeune) in 2008.
Peters purchased Midnight Special out of the 2007 Inglis Easter yearling sale for $200,000. She was offered by Macquarie Stud owner David Baxter who won races with her dam Done That at Newcastle, Canterbury and Rosehill in 1997-98.
