Miller finds key to High Limit

Trainer Simon Miller has found the key to High Limit and that’s helped the gelding turn his form right around this year.

High Limit continued his purple-patch of form at Ascot in the Ascend Sales Trophies Hcp (1200m) last Saturday.  It was his third win in four starts this campaign for the Aquanita team and owners Peter Bell & Ray Meadowcroft.

“Riding him quietly has been the difference,” stable spokesman Michael White said.  “He’s flying since the penny dropped for him and for us.  He did it against a leader bias today and, placed properly, I’m sure there are a few more wins in him.”

High Limit (4g Hussonet – Deal Me Out by Final Card) came from well back with a brilliant finish on Saturday and then dug deep to deny Daintree Road who wouldn’t give up without a fight.

Bred by TBWA president Ian Riley and his wife Shelley, the chestnut was sold through Mogumber Stud for $70,000 at the 2011 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale.  He’s a younger half-brother to Brockman’s Lass (Encosta De Lago) who won stakes races at Flemington, Moonee Valley, Cheltenham and Morphettville.

Their half-brother by Von Costa de Hero sold for $30,000 to David Harrison at last month’s Perth Magic Millions.
