Misty Metal awesome in Miss Andretti

Another awesome front-running display by Misty Metal has propelled Oratorio into double figures for individual winners since Boxing Day.

The Mungrup Stud champion is in rare form and Misty Metal is a class above Perth’s post-carnival sprinters. A winner of the LR Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) and LR Summer Scorcher (1000m), she stayed in training to add the LR Miss Andretti Stakes (1100m) at Ascot on Saturday.

Trainer by Robert & Todd Harvey, she could go around again in the LR Scenic Blast Stakes on February 2 before an interstate campaign. “We might take her to Adelaide for the (G1) Robert Sangster and (G3) Proud Miss Stakes,” Todd said. “She’s an amazing mare and keeps getting better and better.”

Misty Metal is from a family that has generated numerous black-type winners for owner-breeders Lex & Shirley Piper and Mungrup Stud owners Gray & Jan Williamson. Among them are Kalatiara (G2 WA Guineas), Kentiara (LR Detonator Stakes), Guest Wing (G2 Perth Cup), Antique Belle (LR Burgess Queen Stakes), Kencella (G3 Maurice McCarten Stakes) and Broadway Belle (LR Jungle Dawn Classic).

The Pipers also race Misty Metal’s 3yo sister Minika who was very impressive winning a Bunbury maiden second time out last Wednesday.

Oratorio sired Ascot Saturday winner Beat The Devil earlier this month and the following day he doubled up at Albany with Chasing Chaos and Read The Riot Act.

Mungrup has entered a full-brother to Read the Riot Act for the Perth Magic Millions Sale next month. Catalogued as Lot 261, he is also a brother to Oratorio’s G2 WA Guineas winner Clueless Angel.

The colt is the final foal of Petite Angel (Marooned) who is a half-sister to the dam of Elite Belle (G1 Railway Stakes) and Mississippi Delta (LR ATA Stakes).
