Peter Moody topped the opening hour of Day 3 at the Inglis Easter yearling sale when he bid $850,000 for a Redoute’s Choice – Park Esteem colt on Thursday morning.
Parading as Lot 393, the Cressfield.colt had been earmarked as one of the stars of the sale. He is from a Sydney winning three-quarter sister to Godolphin G1 winners Central Park (Italian Derby) and Moon Ballad (Dubai World Cup).
Cressfield also sold a Redoute’s Choice – Champagne colt to Coolmore agents James Bester and Demi O’Byrne for $850,000 on Wednesday.
Moody was the under-bidder for Black Caviar’s millionaire half-brother on Wednesday but he struck back on Thursday morning.
The Caulfield trainer also paid $60,000 for the Charge Forward – Only Vanda colt shortly before his big-ticket buy. The Willow Park youngster is by the same sire as Moody’s G1 winning filly Headway.
Trade gradually picked up on Thursday morning after 10 of the first 30 lots through the Newmarket sale ring were passed-in.
Emirates Park’s Encosta de Lago – My Juliet colt was worth $650,000 to the bid of James Bester. Emirates sold the $1 million Redoute’s Choice – Schiaparelli filly to Gerald Ryan on Tuesday.
