More black-type for Shamardal at Sandown

Darley has more than doubled the northern hemisphere fees for its highflying young stallions Shamardal and Dubawi in 2011.

Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) stands at Kildangan Stud and his fee rises from 20,000 pounds to 50,000 pounds.

Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) is based at Dalham Hall and the cost of a cover goes from 20,000 pounds to 55,000 pounds.

Both stallions have gone tit-for-tat with their stakes winners arriving on a regular basis world-wide.  Shamardal has taken a slender lead on the black-type front with 24 stakes winners of 36 stakes races.  Dubawi has 23 stakes winners of 34 stakes races.

Shamardal sired his latest G1 winner when Casamento was successful in the Racing Post Trophy at Newmarket on October 23.

He can go further ahead of his Darley compatriot with five runners in stakes events at Sandown on Saturday;   Offshore Sham (LR Race-Tech Stakes), The Handsome One (LR Heffernan Stakes), Goldstone (G2 Sandown Guineas), Faint Perfume (G2 Sandown Classic) and Happy Hippy (LR Summoned Stakes).

Shamardal will also be represented in Perth by Premardal in the Listed Jungle Mist Classic at Ascot.

Iffraaj is another Kildangan resident to have his fee increased for 2011.  The Zafonic sire is a runaway winner of the 2010 European first-season sires’ premiership and his fee rises to 15,000 pounds.

The Darley northern hemisphere roster for 2011 features two new additions – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Vale Of York (Invincible Spirit) and Alexandros (Kingmambo) who was a G3 winner of the Dubai International at Meydan in February.
