More Honours for Waller

Rejuvenated galloper Triple Honour broke a run of 22 outs with a well-deserved G2 victory in the Eagle Farm Cup on Saturday.  The Chris Waller trained gelding hadn’t saluted since the Premiere Stakes at Rosehill in August 2008.

Triple Honour (5g Honours List – Myrrh by Nassipour) started a $3.80 favourite despite the long drought.  He had been most consistent without winning this preparation with recent placings in the G1 Queen Elizabeth and G1 Doomben Cup behind stablemate Metal Bender.

Triple Honour was a $50,000 buy at the 2006 Inglis Classic yearling sale.  His 32 start career has been highlighted by a Group 1 in the 2008 Doncaster Handicap and the Eagle Farm Cup prizemoney sent his earnings to more than $1.98 million.

Honours List has last start G3 Premier’s Cup winner Tabulate heading to the Group 2 Brisbane Cup.  The former Widden Stud shuttler is also the sire of Luen Yat Forever who completed the 2010 Macau Triple Crown in the Macau Guineas and Derby and Gold Cup last month.

Honours List (Danehill) was a G3 winner of the Railway Stakes in Ireland before standing at Widden Stud and Hollylodge Thoroughbreds.  He is now based in France alongside Longchamp G2 winner Simplex (Rainbow Quest) at Haras de Saint-Arnoult.

Triple Honour’s dam Myrrh was a Wangaratta winner over a 1600m in 20 starts.  She has an unraced 2yo filly named Nemcova (Snippetson), a yearling colt by God’s Own and a filly foal by Encosta de Lago.  His second-dam San Pauli Girl (Western Symphony) was a G2 winner of the 1993 SAJC Sedgwick Classic Stakes.
