Australian bred gelding Luen Yat Forever confirmed his star status with a clean sweep of the Macau Triple Crown on Saturday. The gelding had won the Macau Guineas and Derby in his previous two outings before thumping his rivals in the G1 Macau Gold Cup (1800m).
Luen Yat Forever (4g Honours List – Loisset by Langfuhr) was a $32,000 buy at the 2006 Magic Millions National weanling sale. He was offered by Glenlogan Park and has won 10 races and banked the equivalent of AUD 821,000.
He was sent to the front in the Gold Cup by regular rider Manoel Nunes and the result was never in doubt. At the post the winning margin was an impressive three lengths. “He is an outstanding horse,” Nunes said. “There is something really special about him.”
Luen Yat Forever is a son of Honours List who came within a whisker of siring another Group 1 on Saturday when his gelding Triple Honour was beaten a head and a nose by Metal Bender and Gold Water in the Doomben Cup. He shuttled to Widden Stud and is now based in Spain.
The Macau Triple Crown winner hails from the famous Leica family that includes the Group 1 winners Leica Guv, Light Fantastic, Leica Planet, Pharaoh, Leica Show and Leica Lover.
