Vinery champion More Than Ready clicks with the Danehill sireline and the cross with Flying Spur has been very productive in the juvenile division this season.

Later Gator (2f More Than Ready – Now the World by Flying Spur) added her name to the roll-call with a sensational debut at Canterbury on Friday night.  Pitted against a field of unexposed youngsters, she won by four lengths from Longport (Casino Prince) and Magondo (Trotamondo) in the Clubs NSW Maiden (1100m).

The More Than Ready – Flying Spur combination kick-started the current season with Cambiaso in the LR Maribyrnong Trial Stakes at Flemington on October 2.  Patinack filly Dysfunction added more black-type when she was runner-up in the LR Calaway Gal Stakes at Eagle Farm in December.

The winning cross continued in the New Year when Raceway bolted in at Warwick Farm.  The brilliant Gai Waterhouse trained colt firmed into an early favourite for the G1 Golden Slipper on the strength of that debut.

Waterhouse holds a strong hand for the 2012 Golden Slipper on April 7.  Her Magic Millions 2YO Classic stablemates Driefontein and No Looking Back are also heading to Rosehill on Easter Saturday.

And Later Gator stood out like a beacon during a dismal evening at Canterbury on Friday.  She was a $180,000 buy for John Singleton from Westbury Stud at the 2011 NZ Bloodstock Karaka Sale.

Later Gator is a younger half-sister to the winners Next The Universe (Mossman) and World Domination (Encosta de Lago).  Second dam Light Up The World (Rory’s Jester) was a G2 winner of the AJC Challenge Stakes.

Waterhouse also produced another promising More Than Ready – Flying Spur youngster at Canterbury on January 28.  Rampaging came from well back to finish third on debut and, like Later Gator, his second dam is by Rory’s Jester.

Arrowfield champion Flying Spur is the damsire of 23 stakes winners headed by More Than Ready’s 2008 Golden Slipper winner Sebring.
