More Than Ready colt tops Yarradale Stud sale

Yarradale Stud conducted its second annual Open Day and Yearling Sale on Monday and a large turn-out of owners and trainers boosted turnover to $2.48 million for the 51 lots to change hands.

The average of $48,716 was a healthy hike on the 2009 figure of $35,346.

Owner Ron Sayers helped the boost turnover with several incentives.  He offered to retain up to 50% in any yearling sold during the day’s trade at his Gidgegannup property.  Sayers will also double the prizemoney won of the first, second and third placegetters in the 2011 Karrakatta Plate if that horse was sold as a yearling by Yarradale Stud in 2010.

All of WA’s leading trainers made their presence felt with Paul Jordan, Neville Parnham, Vernon Brockman, Lindsey Smith, Dan Morton, Colin Webster, Steve Wolfe, Geoff Durrant, Aquanita Racing, David Harrison and Lou Luciani among the buyers.

Ascot trainer Paul Jordan topped the sale with $215,000 for a More Than Ready colt.  He is a late November foal from Ascot One Thousand Guineas winner Penny West (Dexter).  Second dam Miss Tripoli (Noble Bijou) is a sister to G1 AJC Oaks winner Our Sophia.

Dan Morton and Premium Syndications were the successful purchasers of a Medal Of Honor – Nureyev Again colt for $31,000.  The proceeds will go to Redkite – the charity that supports kids with cancer.
