Former Willow Grove resident Mugharreb has transferred to Victoria. He will stand at Ponderosa Park which is situated between Ballarat and Geelong.
Mugharreb was raced by Sheikh Hamdan and was a Listed winner of the 3YO Hopeful Stakes (1200m) at Newmarket. He is by sire of sires Gone West from the Champion European Filly Marling. His second dam Marwell was also rated the Champion Filly of her generation as a two and three year-old in Europe.
Mugharreb has sired 42 winners of 92 races to date. He has been going particularly well in Singapore with open company sprinter Black Ice who scored again at Kranji last Friday night.
Black Ice (5g Mugharreb – Lady Migaloo by General Nediym) is trained by Steven Burridge and has now won 8 races from 21 starts for prizemoney in excess of $440,000. He was also G3 placed in the Three Rings Trophy last year.
“This bloke has always shown a lot of ability,” Burridge said. “We did pay a bit of money for him after he won a Cranbourne trial for Mick Kent but he’s recouped that and more.”
Ponderosa Park studmaster Paul Kelly will stand Mugharreb for a $2,200 (inc gst) fee this year. Kelly can be contacted on (03) 5341 5853.
