Western Australian breeders Ron Sayers and Eddie Rigg will stand exciting stallion prospect Musket at Yarradale Stud in 2010.

The Redoute’s Choice stallion arrived at the Gidgegannup farm on Tuesday and will be paraded at the Yarradale yearling sale on Monday, April 26.

“I had been in negotiations to buy a new stallion for about three months,” Sayers said this week. “I was talking to Darley’s Alastair Pulford and he mentioned Musket.  He is a fantastic looking horse and has a pedigree to match.”

Bob Ingham paid a record $2.5 million for the threequarter brother to Makybe Diva at the 2005 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Musket beat Black Piranha in the G2 Shannon Stakes and overall won four races from 14 starts.  He was part of the Woodlands Stud sale to Sheikh Mohammed in 2008 and covered 86 mares at Darley’s Twin Hills Stud last year. His initial book included 8 stakes winners and 18 dams of stakes winners.

“Musket’s true ability was probably better than his race record showed,” Pulford said.  “His career was restricted by the E.I. outbreak. But there’s no fault in his bloodlines and, on the strength of his pedigree, he could be one of the best horses ever to go to WA.”

With the support of Yarradale Stud and Rigg’s Geisel Park Stud in 2010, Musket has some nicely credentialed mares including Born Priceless, Leica Vista, Trimagic, Fortune Streak snd Spectrum.

Musket will stand for a $10,000 service fee at Yarradale.
