Moonee Valley will host Cox Plate preview day tomorrow with the running of three Group races including the featured G2 Feehan Stakes (1600m).
The Mick Kent trained My Emotion looks to have a class edge on her rivals in the Agar Cleaning Plate (1200m). At her only run back in March, this filly easily accounted for a top-notch field to land the G3 Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Flemington and was immediately put aside with bigger races in mind.
Sold for $230,000 at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale, My Emotion is by the Cox Plate winning sire Savabeel and is the first foal for the Rory’s Jester mare Midnight Rock.
Only lightly raced, Midnight Rock is a half sister to the Mick Price trained Aloha (Encosta de Lago), who was runner up in last weekend’s Listed Straight Six (1200m).
My Emotion’s third dam Tennessee Morn (Bletchingly) was a precocious juvenile who won the G2 VRC Maribrynong Plate, G3 Blue Diamond Prelude and the Listed Maribrynong Trial.
While the breeding on her dam’s side would suggest My Emotion is a sprinter at best, Kent believes the filly has thrown more to her sire’s side and didn’t hesitate to nominate her for the G1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).
Craig Williams, who partnered My Emotion to her first victory will again join forces and is expecting a huge run fresh. “I have a lot of time for this filly,” Williams said. “She had a good trial the other week and although she will improve on the run I am expecting her to be very tough to beat.”
My Emotion is currently at $41 for the G1 Thousand Guineas (1600m), but expect that price to plummet dramatically after a big run on Saturday.
