Group 2 winning mare Naturo topped the NZ Bloodstock Winter Sale at $200,000 on Friday.
A winner of the Matamata Breeders Stakes, Naturo (Postponed) was offered by Willowbank Stud and was knocked down to Sam Munro of Jamieson Park. The sale topper is the dam of the stakes placed Orutan (Pins) and was served by Rich Hill stallion Sir Percy last year.
“She was a top race filly and has already produced black-type performing offspring,” Munro said. “She will remain at Jamieson Park and we’re not sure who she will go to yet.”
Willowbank Stud finished the day as the leading vendor by aggregate with two sales for $220,000.
Second on the leader board was the Stravinsky mare Diamond Babe who is the dam of G2 Phar Lap Stakes winner Blackie (Black Minnaloushe). She was purchased by Sir Patrick Hogan’s Cambridge Stud from Hallmark Stud for $82,500.
A total of 49 lots changed hands for $507,650 and an average price of $10,360. That was up 32% on the 2010 average. The overall clearance rate was 65%.
The South Island Sale of Two-Year-Olds & Mixed Bloodstock will be held next Friday August 12 at Canterbury Agricultural Park from 11am.
