New appointment to Inglis Board

Inglis has announced the appointment of Ian Cornell to its Board as a non-executive director.

Cornell is currently the Director of Human Resources and Retailer Relations at Westfield Limited.  Prior to joining Westfield in 2002, Cornell spent 23 years with Woolworths Ltd.

He is also a former CEO and Chairman of Franklins Limited and has served on the Board of Dairy Farm Management Services Limited.

“We are delighted to have secured the services of Ian Cornell,” Inglis Chairman John Coates said.  “He is a very experienced businessman and retailer with a great passion for breeding and racing.  Ian will be familiar to many racegoers and will be a great asset to Inglis.”

Supplementary entries for the Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale close next Wednesday, June 15.  The Sale will be held from June 22 to 24 at Newmarket.

In addition to weanlings and broodmares, this year’s sale also contains a bloodstock section of racehorses, yearlings and unbroken stock to be sold on Friday June 24.

This sale represents the last chance to sell yearlings in Australia this year, with all yearlings offered being eligible for nomination into the $2.6million Inglis Race Series.

“We already have a good selection of buyers booked in to attend the sale, which will again be held on the dawn of the new breeding season” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy said.

“The weanling section has generated terrific interest among our clients and subsequently we have received some quality supplementary additions to both the weanling and bloodstock sections.”

All new bloodstock investors and existing breeders are welcome to attend the Inglis ‘Breeding Thoroughbreds for Commercial Sale’ seminar which will be conducted on Tuesday, June 21.

The seminar will follow the TVN First Season Sires Showcase to be conducted at 3:30pm in the Newmarket sale ring.
