New Challenge for Super Easy

Super Easy (NZ) is primed to continue his winning run when the Singapore 3YO Challenge kicks off next month.

The New Zealand bred son of Darci Brahma maintained his unbeaten record against older horses with a half-length victory in the G3 Three Rings Trophy (1400m) at Kranji on Sunday.

Super Easy (3c Darci Brahma – Parfore by Gold Brose) was sent out favourite with top jockey Joao Moreira in the saddle and settled midfield before mounting a powerful challenge in the straight.  “They made him earn the win but in the end he is a classy colt.” trainer Michael Freedman said.  “All his seven wins have been against the older horses and I’m really looking forward to seeing him race against his own age group.”

Super Easy was made $140,000 out of the Esker Lodge draft at the 2010 NZB Karaka Premier Sale for the Joy N Happiness Stable.  He is a half-brother to Queensland and Victorian stakes-winner Our Lukas (Generous).  Their dam Parfore is a half-sister to the dam of NZ 2YO Group I winner Il Quello Veloce.

Darci Brahma currently heads the NZ Sires’ Premiership by 3YO Winners with 14, two clear of champion sire O’Reilly on 12.  He is based at The Oaks Stud and, apart from Super Easy, has sired the stakes winners Darci Be Good (G3 NJC Spring Stakes) and Artistic (LR Bonecrusher Stakes).

Super Easy will be one of the favourites for the Singapore 3YO Challenge which starts with the G3 Sprint (1200m) on March 30.  The remaining two legs are the G2 Three-Year-Old Classic (1400m) on April 20 and the G1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) on May 18.

“Ultimately I think he will prove a very good 1200-1400 metre horse but we have to give him a chance in the Guineas this year,” Freedman said.  “He’s just a genuine horse to work with and I knew that he would be the right type for Singapore.”
