Kentucky based Walmac Farm will endeavour to attract Australian and NZ mares by standing stallions to southern hemisphere time.
“Walmac has long had extensive dealings in Australia, New Zealand and South America,” managing director John T.L. Jones III said. “The latest initiative will help southern hemisphere breeders tap into top North American bloodlines.”
Successful Appeal (Valid Appeal) and Songandaprayer (Unbridled’s Song) will remain in Kentucky and cover to southern time for a $8,500 service fee. Both stallions stood for $22,500 northern hemisphere fees in 2009.
Earlier this year, Walmac announced it would shuttle G2 winner Ready’s Image to Lincoln – Walmac Farms in Scone.
The More Than Ready colt won four of his 10 starts for trainer Todd Pletcher and owner James Scatuorchio before Walmac purchased an interest in the colt last October.
Ready’s Image won the 2007 Tremont Stakes by 8 lengths at Belmont Park and reached G2 level with a brilliant victory in the 2007 Sanford Stakes (G2) at Saratoga. Pletcher claimed Ready’s Image the best 2YO he had ever trained.
The More Than Ready colt was also runner-up in the G1 Hopeful Stakes (G1) at the Spa. He came back at three to win the Adjudicating Stakes at Belmont.
“Ready’s Image has that all-important brilliance at two, coupled with good size, being 16.2 hands,” Jones said. “He was the highest-priced yearling of his year by More Than Ready and is sure to put commercial conformation to his progeny.”
Ready’s Image (More Than Ready-Clever Phrase by Clever Trick) is related to leading sires In Reality and Indian Charlie.
More Than Ready’s burgeoning reputation will continue to grow while he sires juvenile the calibre of Golden Slipper winners Phelan Ready and Sebring.
