New Officer for South Korea

The Korean Racing Authority strengthened its sire colony with the news Group 1 winner Officer will transfer to its national stud on Jeju Island.

Officer (Bertrando – St Helens by Septieme Ciel) was a G1 winner of Belmont Champagne Stakes and G2 Del Mar Futurity before running fifth as odds-on favourite in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

After being retired by trainer Bob Baffert, he stood at Gainesway Farm before moving to Taylor Made Farms.  His best runner to date has been G1 Saratoga Hopeful Stakes winner Boys At Tosconova.

Officer stood for $40,000 in his first year at Taylor Made but the cost of a cover had dropped to $10,000 this year.

The KRA now has a dozen stallions standing at stud with the arrival of Officer.  He joins Peace Rules, Exploit, Commendable, Volponi, Yankee Victor, Menifee, Vicar, Forest Camp, Pico Central, Hawk Wing, and One Cool Cat.
