Group 1 winner Dissident has been signed to stand at Newgate Farm. He will race on for trainer Peter Moody in the autumn before retiring to the Hunter Valley property for the 2015 stud season.
Dissident (4h Sebring – Diana’s Secret by Anabaa) is a Group 1 winner of the Randwick Guineas, Memsie Stakes and Makybe Diva Stakes. He was last seen finishing sixth in the G1 Caulfield Stakes but bled warranting a three month ban from racing.
“We are in the process of syndicating him,” Newgate manager Tony Williams said. “We are absolutely delighted to have him on board and believe he will be huge asset.
“Dissident is at his best from 1400 metres to 1600m so he will target races such as the G1 Orr Stakes and G1 Futurity Stakes in February,” Williams said. “Sydney is also a possibility and a race like the All Aged Stakes in April might well suit.”
Based at Aberdeen, Newgate was established by Henry Field as recently as 2010 and already stands Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock), Eurozone (Northern Meteor), The Factor (War Front) and Sizzling (Snitzel).
