Newhaven Park sire Zeditave has been put down after succumbing to colic.  He was 25.  

Zeditave is the last in a long line of stallions to stand at Newhaven Park.  Located between Cowra and Yass in NSW, it was developed by family patriarch John Kelly in the 1950s and was home to champion sires Wilkes, Luskin Star and Marauding.

Zeditave (The Judge) was bred and raced by Sydney bookmaker Colin Tidy and his wife Helen who also raced his 1997 Newmarket Handicap winning daughter Ruffles.

The powerful chestnut was trained by Angus Armanasco to win the G1 QTC 2YO Stakes and he followed up with G1 victories in the William Reid Stakes, Lightning Stakes and Futurity Stakes (1400m).

Zeditave retired to stud in 1989 and, unlike Hunter Valley stallions, never had a book bigger than 90 mares.  He has sired 34 stakes winners headed by the Group 1 winners Assertive Lad, Assertive Lass, Chlorophyll, Ruffles, Sports, Strategic and Typhoon Zed.  

His sire sons at stud include Strategic (Darley), Magic Albert (Yarraman Park) and Zedrich (Evergreen Lodge).
