Oh Oklahoma is a new arrival at Nagambie based nursery Allan Hills Farm.  He is the only son of Singspiel based in Victoria and will stand alongside Redoute’s Choice freshman Shield.

An eye-catching bay horse, Oh Oklahoma was trained by Tim Martin and won three sprints in Sydney.  He was also a neck second to De Beers in the G1 Rosehill Guineas and was fourth home in the G3 STC Kingston Town Stakes and G3 AJC Queen’s Cup.

Oh Oklahoma won a Rosehill barrier trial in readiness for the 2007 spring carnival, however, he was sidelined with a knee injury and connections made a late decision to stand him at Ilala Stud that season.  Shortly after arriving in the Hunter Valley, E.I. struck and his book was limited to 35 mares.  

Making a fresh start in the Super VOBIS state could be the making of Oh Oklahoma as a successful stallion.  His own sire Singspiel (In The Wings) was a G1 winner of the Dubai World Cup, Coronation Cup and Juddmonte International and he developed into a powerful force as a stallion for Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell estates.

Singspiel died aged 18 in July and he has sired 12 Group 1 winners among 73 black type winners to date.  His elite level winners include Moon Ballad (Dubai World Cup), Papineau (Ascot Gold Cup), Hibaayeb (Fillies Mile), Dar Re Mi (Dubai Sheema Classic), Confidential Lady (French Oaks), Asakusa Den’ En (Yasuda Kinen) and Lahudood (BC Filly & Mare Turf).

The best of his Australian stock has been Shadwell Estates filly Rewaaya who was a Group 1 winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.  His other southern-hemisphere bred stakes winners included Belmonte (G3 BTC Doomben Classic & G3 BTC Rough Habit Plate), A Country Girl (G3 STC Millie Fox Stakes) and Operetta Lass (G3 AJC Adrian Knox Stakes).

Oh Oklahoma is bred on a similar cross to Belmonte.  The latter is from a mare by Palace Music, a world-class racehorse who supplied Group 1 winners in both hemispheres including the magnificent Australian performer Naturalism, the sire of the dam of Oh Oklahoma.

Oh Oklahoma’s dam More Natural (Naturalism) is a sister to Sydney stakes winner Power Of Pegasus (Palace Music) and a three-quarter sister to Canberra stakes winner Johnny Reb (Naturalism).

Allan Hills studmaster David Houston has placed a $2,750 (inc gst) fee on Oh Oklahoma this spring.  

Houston also stands Shield at his Nagambie property.  The Redoute’s Choice colt was a $1.20 million for Sheikh Mohammed as a yearling but an injury prevented him from racing.  He is a younger half-brother to Darley’s boom sire Domesday.
