Oratorio colt Streets rivals in Perth

Lucky Street is the WA 2YO Champion elect after winning the LR Perth Stakes (1100m) and he can seal local honours in the G2 Karrakatta Plate on March 28.

Victory in the $500,000 feature at Ascot in a fortnight will also guarantee his sire Oratorio (Aus) captures a fifth Sunspeed 2YO title since his first premiership in 2008-09.

Lucky Street (2c Oratorio – Rumours by Umatilla) cost $75,000 from Mungrup Stud at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions and has now earned $303,200 including Westspeed incentives of $55,000

After Saturday’s easy front-running victory, the WA TAB firmed his Karrakatta quote into $1.80.  “He went in fresh and blew up big after the run,” trainer Trevor Andrews said on Monday.  “He’s bounced back without any problems and will go into the Karrakatta 100%.”

Lucky Street won the Perth Magic Millions Classic last month and fellow Oratorio youngster Gold Busker won the Tasmanian equivalent on February 25.  The latter missed doubling up by a nose in the Adelaide Magic Millions last Monday, March 9.

Oratorio (Aus) stands at Mungrup Stud and he has already sired Karrakatta Plate winning fillies Gold Rocks (2009) and Motion Pictures (2010).  He leads the current WA 2YO table with earnings of $409,676.  Next best is War Chant ($311,155).

Mungrup owner Gray Williamson pensioned Lucky Street’s dam Rumours after her last miss to Oratorio. Now a rising a 20 year-old, she has a yearling colt by Hala Bek.
