Neville Parnham trained Playing God to a G1 Kingston Town Stakes double in 2010-11 and he can win it again with the stallion’s high-class gallopers Kay Cee and Platoon this Saturday.

Kay Cee was runner-up in the G2 WA Guineas and Platoon is coming off a placing in the G1 Railway Stakes.

Parnham believes Kay Cee will have no problem running a strong 1800m. “She’s pretty tough and we’ve been keeping her fresh with beach work. She will get a sweet run from the inside barrier and just needs to get a bit of room at the right time.

“Steven (Parnham) has won the race three times, so he knows how to find the line. We have only gone back on her in recent starts because she’s drawn badly. She can hold up a little bit closer from that gate and I expect her to hit the line solidly.”

Stablemate Platoon is capable of turning the stables on Railway Stakes winner Regal Power when the they clash again in the Kingston Town. “He did all the donkey work for Regal Power and, of the beaten horses, was one of the better runs in the Railway.

“He carries level weights again with Regal Power who has drawn wide (15) and Platoon has drawn better (7) which probably puts him in front of Regal Power in the run again. He certainly hasn’t gone backwards.

“I think the weight pull certainly gives Kay Cee an advantage, but I wouldn’t write off Platoon.”

Playing God (Blackfriars) stands at Mungrup Stud and a Kingston Town triumph would increase the value his yearlings catalogued for 2020 Perth Magic Millions in February.

Mungrup Stud’s first Playing God filly to parade in the Swan Valley is from Hallowell Lane (Lot 33). The dam is an unraced half-sister to Lusaha (LR Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic).

Oratorio mare Oriel (Lot 78) has the first Playing God colt to go under the hammer and he’s a full-brother to Platoon.
