Parnham’s Sires’ Produce Strategy

Trainer Neville Parnham will consider a start in the G3 WA Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) for Investmentstrategy after the Playing God colt won again at Ascot on Wednesday.

Investmentstrategy dictated terms in a Belmont nursery earlier this month but had to work overtime to win the Carbine Club Of WA Plate (1400m).  He faced the breeze outside front-runner I Dreamed A Dream (Oratorio) and then had to climb off the canvas when headed by On Patrol (War Chant) in the straight.

“He was slower away today but was tough on the line,” Parnham said.  “He’s a big handsome fella and has the potential to make a nice horse when he matures.  He’s still a colt and is easy to handle around the stable so there’s no indication why he can’t stay that way.

“I first saw him as a yearling with Tony Patrizi before the Magic Millions last year and he really caught my eye.  The young ones usually taper off after a couple of starts so we will see how he pulls up before making a decision on the Sires but he wouldn’t be out of place in that sort of race.”

The $200,000 Group 3 WA Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) is scheduled for next Saturday, April 29.  Playing God (Blackfriars) has sired 12 Stakes winners since Lordhelpmerun opened his black-type account in the 2018 WA Sires.

Patrizi sold him for $120,000 out of the Greenfields Lodge draft from Capel and he’s a younger half-brother to Classado (Toronado) who won a Narrogin maiden for Gangemi Racing on April 13.

Their dam World Class (Manhattan Rain) was a $30,000 buy for agent John Chalmers acting for the late Dick Vincent at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.  Their second dam is a half-sister to Miss Danehill (G1 Queensland Oaks) and Pentastic (G2 VRC Craiglee Stakes).

Patrizi sold the Long Leaf – World Class yearling filly for $130,000 to Simon Miller in the Swan Valley in February.
