Patronize clicks with Jestceny

David Harrison didn’t get the best out of Jestceny but he’s making hay with her first two foals Jest Envy Her and Jestpatim.

Jest Envy Her (3f Patronize – Jestceny by Real Jester) won the Westspeed Hcp (1000m) at Belmont on Saturday for Harrison and Darling View Thoroughbreds owner Clive Atwell.  She had only been out of the money twice in 10 starts since winning her maiden at Northam.

Jestpatim (4g Patronize – Jestceny by Real Jester) completed a Belmont double for the same connections in the 2013-14 Premiership Winners Hcp (1300m) on Wednesday.  It was his fourth city success in addition to a Listed placing in the 2012 Perth Stakes.

“He won here last month but was held up on a bottomless track at Pinjarra last time,” Harrison said.  “I didn’t think he would get that far back today but he tries his heart out every time.”

Jestceny only raced once and that was a winning one in a juvenile sprint at Ascot.  She beat G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Roman Time despite being badly injured during the race.

Retired to stud by Darling View Thoroughbreds owner Clive Atwell, she has produced a colt and two fillies by resident sire Patronize.

Their third foal – Jester Derriere – was runner-up to Hobart Jones at Ascot last December.  The winner went on to a Group 2 victory in the Karrakatta Plate.

Earlier this month, Harrison and Atwell won a Northam maiden with Patronize gelding Dexterous Lad.  “It was a good win up there and he will go for a spell now,” Harrison said.  “He’s still a big kid and will be a nice horse later on.”

Patronize (Redoute’s Choice) stands alongside Econsul (NZ) at Darling View Thoroughbreds in Mundijong.  Both stallions are available for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee this year.

Econsul sired four winners in the final few days of the season starting with promising filly Our Exchange in Adelaide on Saturday.  She has won 3 of her last 4 four starts at Morphettville for trainer Richard Jolly.
