Patronize in Australian Top 20

Darling View Thoroughbreds stallion Patronize passed another milestone when The Last Waltz recorded his 250th win at the Kalgoorlie carnival on Thursday.

The Last Waltz speared through a gap in the straight for visiting jockey Craig Newitt to win the Fifth Leg Hcp (1600m). She is trained locally by Brett Mathews who has leased several winners from Darling View.

Her dam Balmaressa Dancer (Citidancer) is a three-quarter sister to NZ Group 1 winner Ballroom Babe.

Patronize (Redoute’s Choice) is a three-quarter brother to Exceed And Excel and he’s also in exalted company with an outstanding winners-to-runners record.

Thoroughbred Daily News published a table this week for Australian stallions in that category and Patronize was the only WA sire in the Top 20 with a sky-high 70% strike-rate.

The average earnings of his colts are also higher than any other WA sire at $74,500.

“That makes him bloody good value at a $4,400 service fee,” Darling View’s Brent Atwell said in a recent interview with Aushorse. “He’s sired stakes winners like Chix Pic, Enchanted Dreams, Miki Two Toes and there are more coming through like Mia Dolce and Fred Dag.”

Recent city winners by Patronize with black-type potential include Power Of St George, Belle Of Liberty, Lookout and Little Fish who made his stakes debut when fifth in the LR Hannans Hcp in Kalgoorlie on Thursday.

Patronize stands at Darling View in Mundijong alongside G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Lucky Street (Oratorio) who is available for a $5,500 service fee.
