Pearce Racing a rising Influence in Perth

Dawson Stud-bred graduate Influencing is progressing at a rapid rate for Pearce Racing and he ticked another box when completing four wins in a row at Ascot on Saturday.

Influencing opened his account in a Pinjarra maiden on February 25 before winning midweek races at Belmont and Ascot earlier this month.  He stepped up to Saturday company in the Amelia Park Hcp (1400m) and kept an undefeated record intact this campaign with an all-the-way victory for the in-form stable.

Always in control under Tash Faithfull, the 3yo son of Oratorio kicked off the corner to the delight of a ladies syndicate to defeat Bondi Plunge (Bondi) and Premium Girl (A Lot).  “He looked pretty comfortable today and the rise in class didn’t stop him getting the job done,” co-trainer Ben Pearce said.

“We’ve just kept him ticking over between runs.  He hasn’t had a hard gallop at home since winning his maiden.  He doesn’t look like a sprinting type so we may get him out to mile.”

Pearce Racing purchased Influencing from Dawson Stud for $60,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions and he’s paid that back with prizemoney of $184,530 to date.  Those earnings include Westspeed bonuses of $88,900.

“He improves every time he steps out,” said Fathfull who is also building a good strike-rate with the stable.  “He’s relaxes and has a nice, scopey action.  You can put him anywhere and it feels like he will get further.”

Former Champion sire Oratorio (Stravinsky) has a 70% winning strike-rate with his former Mungrup Stud colleague Danehill Dancer and his final yearling crop is limited to a colt from Discreet Madam and filly out of Strawberry Street.

Influencing is a full-brother to city winners Cable Boy and Defending and Dawson sold their yearling half-brother by Playing God to Ryan Hill for $50,000 at last month’s Perth Magic Millions.

Their dam Surrendering (Danehill Express) is a half-sister to G2 WA Guineas winner Moccasin Bend (Eternity Range).  She was a $6,000 buy for Dawson Stud’s Graham Daws at the 2020 Mungrup Stud Dispersal.

Daws bought back into the family having owned her sixth-dam Star Kist (Asteroid) back in the 1970s.
