Perfect 10 for Professionelle

Fire Eyes preserved the perfect strike-rate of his dam at Moruya on Sunday.

Fire Eyes (3g Lucky Owners – Professionelle by Centaine) made it 10 winners from 10 to race for Professionelle in the Aruze Maiden Hcp (1425m).

After three failures in Sydney earlier this year, he won the low-level maiden on the south coast by a length.

Professionelle (NZ) only got as far as a Newcastle maiden win in June 1996 but she has performed above and beyond the call of duty as a broodmare.

Topping the list are her stakes winners King Of Prussia (Anabaa), Sportsman (Supremo), Prisoner Of Love (Canny Lad) and Hoystar (Danzero).

The Top 10 is filled out by minor winners Smytzer’s Rose (Danehill), Sports King (Anabaa), Dancing Havana (Danehill Dancer), Soho Secret (Lucky Owners), Lucky Angel (Redoute’s Choice) and Fire Eyes.

Professionelle was purchased by Hong Kong-based owner Leung Kai Fai for $525,000 at the 2004 Magic Millions Winter Sale.  Fire Eyes sold for $140,000 at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

His sire Lucky Owners has been represented by 77 winners at 43% strike-rate since retiring to Widden Stud in 2004.

Those figures would normally mean an early exit from a stud of Widden’s standing but he’s still on the roster at an $11,000 (inc gst) service fee this year.
