Darley shuttler Teofilo made a perfect start to his stud career when Parish Hall won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Teofilo (Galileo) was trained by Jim Bolger during an undefeated juvenile campaign in 2006 and the Coolcullen horseman also prepares his first winner.
Parish Hall (2c Teofilo – Halla Siamsa by Montjeu) was pushed along in the early stages and then challenged the leaders to win by three-quarters of a length from Coolmore colts Raphael Santi (Excellent Art) and Requinto (Dansili).
“Parish Hall is a nice horse with a future,” Bolger predicted. “He is a great mover and will step up to seven furlongs soon.”
Teofilo is a $5 favourite to win the European first-season winners’ premiership for 2011. He retired an unbeaten Group 1 winner of the Irish National Stakes at the Curragh and the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket where he defeated Coolmore colt Holy Roman Emperor.
Teofilo has covered over 200 mares in the last two seasons shuttling to Darley Kelvinside at a $22,000 fee.
