Perth Warrior on Melbourne mission

Mornington trainer Tony Noonan is reaping the rewards after settling up a Perth stable last year.  Single Warrior scored a resounding victory in the Racingjobs Hcp (1650m) at Belmont on Wednesday and the victory could have earned him a trip to Melbourne.

Single Warrior (4h Duelled – British Version by British Banker) was a $26,000 buy for Neven Botica at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions when offered by Greenfields Stud.

“He’s done a terrific job,” Noonan’s stable foreman Nick Cox said.  “I think Melbourne would suit him.  He would just eat up the ground in those Sandown midweek races on heavy tracks.”

Graeme Rogerson stands Single Warrior’s sire Duelled (Redoute’s Choice) in New Zealand.  He is off to a great start at stud with G1 Queensland Derby winner Shootoff in his first crop.

His dam British Version won two races in New Zealand and is from the immediate family of G1 winning racehorse and sire Lord Ballina.

Single Warrior was bred by Greenfields Stud owner Neil Randall who has just installed Pitleco (Exceed And Excel) as resident sire at the historic Capel property.

Randall sold British Version for $4,000 to Cromartry Park’s Olga McKenzie at the 2010 Perth Magic Millions April Sale.  The mare foaled a Viscount colt last September and was bred back to Cromartry Park resident Natural Blitz.
