Trade at Sunday’s 2010 Magic Millions Perth Winter Sale today concluded with solid increases across the board. Turnover of $793,850 on 145 lots meant the average price of $5,475 was up over 12% from last year’s figure of $4,883.
The draft from Peters Investments proved popular and its consignment started the sale on a positive note when Verglas gelding Grey Monarch (Lot 3) topped the day’s selling. He was snapped up by local Allan Barnes for $65,000.
A last start winner for Bob and Sandra Peters just over a week ago, Grey Monarch is a winner of 6 of his 35 starts to date and earned $243,100. He gained black type when he ran a close second in the Listed Aquanita Stakes to Famous Roman.
Challis, another Peters Investment lot, changed hands to a $50,000 bid by Hong Kong based Ng Muk.
Magic Millions Perth Manager Murray Tillett was pleased with the results from Sunday’s sale. “We had a great line up buyers represented at the sale,” Tillett reported. “And the quality lots of the sale were well sought after.”
“The Winter Sale has proven popular over the years and it’s encouraging to see the average price continues to rise each year.”
