Pinhook graduates pinch juvenile double

Pinhook Bloodstock (FBAA) agent Dave Mee would have been pinching himself after his 2yo graduates Devil’s Temptation (Falvelon) and Li’l Kontra (Krupt) won the opening races at Eagle Farm and Morphettville on Saturday.

Devil’s Temptation flew the gates first-up and looked a bit special leading all the way in the Jim Beam Black Carnival Ball (1000m).  He was specked from $11 into $8.50 after some pleasing trials at Toowoomba.

Trainer Tony Sears revealed the youngster had held his own at trackwork with Rock Beat who has won 4 from 5 including a 3yo sprint at Eagle Farm last month.  “He’s got an old head on young shoulders,” Sears said.  “He was very professional and relaxed in the mounting yard today and it was a top debut.”

Devil’s Temptation cost Pinhook Bloodstock $145,000 from Kenmore Lodge at the 2018 Gold Coast March Magic Millions and he returned $67,200 at the first time of asking.  His dam Bradbury Chocolate (Bradbury’s Luck) was a hard-knocker winning 11 sprints from Doomben to Charleville and Cunnamulla!

“We’ve taken our time with him,” Sears added.  “He’s been up for a while so will probably tip him out now.”

Li’l Kontra has also been in work for some time and she was racing for the seventh time when winning the LR Dequetteville Stakes (1050m) in Adelaide.  The Ryan Balfour-trained filly has never been out of a place since a close second to Group 1 colt Free Of Debt at Morphettville on Xmas Eve.

She has also been placed in the LR Cinderella Stakes and Adelaide Magic Millions for earnings over $162,000.  Pinhook bought her from Rosden Park for $110,000 at the 2018 Adelaide Magic Millions.

Her dam Li’l Cashy (Keltrice) was a speedball who won 8 sprints in Adelaide and another at Caulfield for Balfour’s father David and breeder John Coleman who kept a share in her first black-type winner.
