Premardal back-to-back at Ascot

Premardal gave weight all round to make it back-to-back victories in the Jungle Dawn Classic at Ascot on Saturday.

The Swettenham Stud graduate claimed her first LR Jungle Dawn Classic last year and added the Listed Starstruck Classic a fortnight later.

Premardal (5m Shamardal – Prestigious by Rainbow Crest) is from an unraced three-quarter sister to G1 winning sires Arazi (Blushing Groom) and Noverre (Rahy).

Swettenham owner Adam Sangster sold Premardal for $135,000 as a yearling and she has since earned over $288,500 for trainer Todd Harvey and her connections.

Her sire Shamardal is based at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland and he has sired 33 stakes winners of 63 stakes races in both hemispheres.  We won’t see him back in Australia after his last two southern stints in 2009 and 2010 were compromised by injuries.

Premardal has a 2yo sister named Flattery and their dam Prestigious recently foaled a colt by Darley stallion Denman.

Shamardal has five yearlings at the upcoming Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale led by Lot 259, a colt from Rock Idol entered by Millbrook.  His stakes-placed dam is a three-quarter sister to Zero Rock.

The other four have been catalogued by Bowness Stud (Lot 185), Rosemont Stud (321), Amarina Farm (331) and Evergreen Stud (385).
