Pretty Style skips Karrakatta Plate

Oratorio filly Pretty Style ran out of time for this Saturday’s G2 Karrakatta Plate but she did earn $95,000 for her owner-breeders Mungrup Stud last week.

The Lou Luciani-trained youngster won a Bunbury maiden on March 24 and doubled up after a quick turnaround in the TABTouch Better Your Bet Plate (1000m) at Ascot last Saturday. She burned off several would-be leaders and controlled the race for a comfortable victory over Marcee A Lady (Safeguard) and Downforce (Snippetson).

“She has the right attitude and Lou was happy with the way she pulled up after Bunbury,” winning jockey Jason Whiting explained. “She grabbed the bit after the start so I decided to go with her.”

Pretty Style will skip the $500,000 Karrakatta Plate and likely run again on April 13 which would rule out a start in the G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on Good Friday.

“She’s a smart filly and deserved to have another crack today,” Luciani said. “She’s pretty chilled and is all business with blinkers.”

Pretty Style’s dam My Lovely Lovely (Flying Pegasus) won twice at Belmont for Mungrup owners Gray and Jan Williamson and was retained to keep a link with one of their oldest families in the Great Southern.

She has a yearling colt by I’m All The Talk with Roy Rogers and her most recent cover was to Oratorio in November.

Second-dam She’s So Halo (Don’t Say Halo) is a half-sister to Surrender To Me (LR Raconteur Stakes) and other stakes winners close-up in the pedigree include Moccasin Bend (G2 WA Guineas) and World Of Fun (LR N J Way Stakes).
