Promising outstanding in Polytrack Hcp

Aptly-named filly Promising signed off her second prep with an outstanding victory in the MCA Polytrack Hcp (1100m) at Ascot’s midweek meeting last Wednesday.  Sent straight to the lead by Shaun O’Donnell, the Trevor Andrews-trained 3yo was shadowed by Queen’s Gift (King’s Troop) in running until she dropped that mare with an explosive turn of foot in the straight.

Promising was home and hosed a long way out and was eased down late to score by the best part of three lengths from Native Flower (Gingerbread Man) and Canny Rock (Awesome Rock).  She had won a Pinjarra maiden down the straight on Boxing Day and will rise up the ladder when resuming later this season.

“We rode her back in the field during her first campaign but she’s very sharp and you have to let fast horses be fast horses,” Andrews said.  “We were pretty confident dropping back in class today and Shaun made the most of her gate speed from a good draw.

“I will probably pull up stumps now.  She feels her knees a bit and we don’t want to do anything that’s detrimental to her future because she’s certainly up to Saturday grade.”

Promising is by Yulong Investments Group 1 winning stallion Pierata (Pierro) and was bred by Einoncliff Park owners Wayne and Jane Beynon.  They bought her Ascot-winning dam Our Time Will Come (Oratorio) from Aquis Farm (as agent) for $42,500 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Einoncliff Park has 10 lots entered for the Perth Magic Millions and a focal point on Day 1 will be the Dirty Work colt from Anglissa (Lot 181).  He’s one of three yearlings available in the Swan Valley by Widden Stud stallion Dirty Work (Written Tycoon) who sired his first winner when Do I Feel Lucky was successful at Ascot earlier this month.

“He’s one of our standout yearlings,” Jane Beynon said.  “He’s a good-looking, forward type and there’s black-type right down the page.”  Einoncliff Park bought his dam Anglissa (Animal Kingdom) for $60,000 at the 2020 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.  She is an unraced daughter of G1 ATC Flight Stakes (1600m) winner Danglissa (Danzero).

Other Eastern States stallions represented in the consignment coming up from Boyanup include colts by Portland Sky (Lot 61) and Glenfiddich (Lot 343) plus fillies by Nicconi (Lot 52) and Hellbent (Lot 100).

The Nicconi filly from Hot Goods being offered as agent for Marielle Park is a half-sister to Belmont winners Red Hot Goods (Choisir) and Forever Autumn (Divine Prophet).

Hellbent (I Am Invincible) is off to a superb start standing alongside his sire at Yarraman Park with first-crop Group 1 winners Benedetta (SAJC Goodwood Stakes) and Magic Time (ATC All Aged Stakes & MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes).

His Einoncliff Park filly is the first foal from Pride of Dubai winner Ober Purkla.  The Beynons report she’s not the biggest of fillies but is beautifully put together.

Their Splintex – Femelle filly (Lot 214) received an update earlier this month at Ascot when her older half-brother El Patron (Patronize) won for the third time in town for trainer Simon Miller.

Another first foal is the Shooting to Win colt from Magnalux (Magnus) parading as Lot 80.  The dam is a full-sister to Magnapal (G3 MRC Naturalism Stakes) and a three-quarter sister to Rey Magnerio (LR VRC Always Welcome Stakes).

“It’s a current family with Rey Magnerio winning black-type at Flemington in November,” Jane added.  “He’s also from the first local crop by Shooting To Win and is a cracking colt.”
