Richly-bred filly Pure Elegance (NZ) added a quality performance to her potent pedigree with a G3 victory in the Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings on Saturday. She powered home to score by three-quarters of a length from Rollout The Carpet (Holy Roman Emperor).
Pure Elegance (3f Redoute’s Choice – Our Echezeaux by Zabeel) created a huge impression at her only start as a juvenile when a five length winner at Waipukurau in March. “We’ve always had a lot of time for her and Jason (Waddell) gave her a gun run,” trainer Steven Ramsay said. “She will be really smart once we get her up to a mile.”
Connections will get her over that distance in the G1 NZB One Thousand Guineas at Riccarton on November 17.
The Gold Trail was the first-leg of the NZ Bloodstock’s Filly of the Year Series and the Kiwi bred daughter of Redoute’s Choice went into the race primed to win after a recent trial at Paeroa. She clocked nearly two seconds faster than any other winner that morning.
“I did the speed map and always wanted to follow Rollout The Carpet,” Waddell said. “It was a tough win and she’s a filly with immense ability.”
Pure Elegance is a homebred for NZ Bloodstock principals Peter and Philip Vela. She is from a sister to G1 Australian Oaks winner Grand Echezeaux (Zabeel) who is the dam of G1 racehorse and sire Darci Brahma (Danehill).
