Queensland racing has lost two of its leading lights with the deaths of Greg Grant and Helen Coughlan.
Grant and his wife Patricia were tragically killed in a car accident while holidaying in India on the weekend. He founded Greg Grant Saddlery in 1977 and developed the business into the largest supplier of horse riding equipment and western apparel in Australia.
Coughlan was a well known figure in the media since she began writing a monthly column for Racetrack Magazine in 1971.
Her love of the sport and racing people was well known and she was a major contributor on the QROA committee. Helen raced horses for many years and was also syndicate manager for the Bletchingly stallion Shedad who stood at Willowbend Stud.
She will also be remembered for helping to establish the racing museum at Doomben. Helen passed away after suffering further complications from a stroke in April.
