Racetree owner Kevin Dixon completed a winning double over the Australia Day long weekend when Purr Of Glory won the B105 Hcp at Doomben on Tuesday.
Purr Of Glory (3f Lion Heart – Monica’s Glory by Honour And Glory) was racing first-up after a 21 week spell and improved her strike rate to 3 wins from 4 starts.
Dixon had welcomed a Listed winner back to scale at Eagle Farm on Saturday when Plain Magic completed a winning hat-trick in the Listed Nudgee Handicap (1200m).
Trainer Kelly Schweida was thrilled with the win and is now eyeing winter carnival features with his classy Magic Albert mare. “She’s always shown us something,” Schweida reported. “But she’s very plain and that is how she got her name.”
Schweida said a race like the G1 Winter Stakes would be her aim but would first be set for the Silk Stocking.
Plain Magic is by Yarraman Park sire Magic Albert. She has earned over $340,000 with a lot more to come before the season is over. She is from Sydney winner Glow Misty for Me and hails from the family of G1 winning sprinter Notoire and Magic Millions 3YO Trophy winner Tempest Tost.
