Well-bred entire Raheeb will get his chance to post a long overdue G1 win and enhance his stud value in the Toorak Handicap in race 6 (3.20pm) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Formerly trained by Anthony Cummings, Raheeb found himself a new home with Mick Price at Caulfield after Cummings split with Patinack Farm earlier in the year.
Raheeb (6h Royal Academy-Gatana by Marauding) has been thriving in his new environment and highlighted his class with a crushing two-length victory last Saturday over 1400m from an outside gate. That victory prompted Price to back the six-year old up in tomorrow’s feature mile.
Only lightly raced, Raheeb ran in last year’s Toorak finishing a close up fifth, but Price believes the horse is going even better this time around.
Raheeb was a $90,000 purchase from the 2005 Gold Coast Magic Millions and is a brother to Caulfield G3 winning filly Piccadilly Circus. She is the dam of Coolmore Stud’s up-and-coming stallion Fastnet Rock.
