Regency is making up for last time after a delayed start to his career for Gold Front Thoroughbreds.
The good-looking gelding careered to a four length victory at Northam a fortnight before winning the Cup Day Nov 4 Hcp (1000m) at Ascot on Wednesday. He benefited from a rails run to overpower Agachar Cruz and West Africa in a close finish.
“He wasn’t as fresh today as he was up at Northam,” trainer Brent Albuino said. “He’s only been lightly handled and will get over more ground as long as he stays sound.”
Regency (4g Myboycharlie – Private by Encosta de Lago) cost $100,000 at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He’s a half-brother to Believe Yourself (Sebring) who won the G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes at Rosehill earlier this year before a transfer to Singapore.
