Rails run rewards Rocket Juice

Lynward Park resident Bondi (Snitzel) sired his fourth winner in three weeks at Ascot on Saturday when Rocket Juice took advantage of a rails run to score first-up in the Westspeed Platinum Hcp (1200m).

Rocket Juice (4g Bondi – Juice by Bertolini) relaxed in running off a moderate tempo set by stablemate Star Power (War Chant).  When the leader rolled off the fence in the straight, Steve Parnham seized the initiative to defeat Another Strike (Sessions) who had been forced five-wide on the corner.

“There wasn’t a whole lot of room but we snuck through the gap,” Parnham reported  “Thankfully, I had enough horse to kick and he was too good in the end.”

Rocket Juice was bred by Tony Patrizi (Misty Valley Thoroughbreds) and he made $110,000 when purchased by Colin Loxton at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.  Like Bondi, Patrizi and Loxton are also enjoying a great start to the New Year with winners at Ascot.

A Bunbury maiden winner twelve months ago, Rocket Juice had been placed five times in town before bringing up a second victory on Saturday.  “He was a lovely looking yearling and has always shown us enough ability to suggest he can win better races,” trainer Neville Parnham said.

“He didn’t like the wet winter tracks at Belmont during his last prep but he’s come back extra well this campaign.  He had a quiet trial last month and we gave him a couple of gallops knowing he’s best kept fresh.”

Lynward Park has two colts and a filly by Bondi catalogued for the Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale in February.  The colt from Aim for Gold (Lot 172) is a full-brother to Icebergs who is knocking on the door for another Ascot victory following a first-up second to I Dreamed A Dream (Oratorio) on New Year’s Day.

The second Bondi colt is from LR Beaufine Stakes (1000m) winner All Friared Up (Lot 333).  The most recent of the mare’s six winners to date is Pearce Racing 3yo Surf Patrol (Bondi) who was a TBWA Winner Of The Week in December.

Lynward Park team member Shannon Ellis was also in the spotlight at the TBWA Staff Awards at Ascot last month when she received the Dedication to Breeding Award.  Rebekah Healey (Rangeview) won the Newcomer Award, Chris Lambert (Darling View) the Leadership Award and Naomi Montuolo (Gold Front) the Administrative & Ancillary Services Award.
